Greening Oakland Homes – Volunteers Needed!
Promoting home energy and water conservation one neighborhood at a time.
The
Energy/Environment Issues Group is busy planning our first event for March 6, 2010. We
will be bringing together Oakland
residents, local contractors, funding sources, and the City of Oakland. It will be
a great opportunity to learn how you can reduce your homes' energy and water
useage, talk directly to suppliers and contractors who can provide the
materials and labor, and get information about how to make it more affordable
through tax credits, incentives, City sponsored programs, etc.
We
urgently need more volunteers. If you can provide graphic design or website
design services, technical support, or have a general interest in participating,
please consider contributing your time now and contact us at greeningoak@greeningoak.com.
The Group’s
next meeting is February 9, 2010 at the Montclair Woman's Club at 7:30 pm. If you are planning to attend or are interested in learning more, please
contact us at greeningoak@greeningoak.com. |

Our February 10th meeting will focus on two
events that will help Oakland Schools in the next year.
First, we are beginning to plan Book Share: a
book drive for Oakland elementary schools that do not have libraries. We see
this as a spring event that will collect new and gently used books appropriate
for students in grades K-5. We are currently making contact with school
personnel and hope to finalize plans at our February meeting.
We will also decide whether we should sponsor
another Volunteer Faire for the schools in the fall. Replicating the success of
our first faire will depend on our energy and that of the agencies with whom we
partnered.
For each of these
events we will be especially appreciative of folks with marketing and IT skills
as well as time, energy and a commitment to Oakland Schools.
All are welcome to
the meeting at 7pm, 1933 Gouldin Road, Oakland.
